Overview

Qusina stands out as a proud Filipino restaurant nestled in the heart of Banilad, Cebu City. Located conveniently on Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue, it serves as a culinary destination for those craving authentic Cebuano flavors elevated with a modern touch. The restaurant’s atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and inviting, featuring an open-air dining space that keeps guests comfortable without the typical smoky aftereffects of barbecue.

The true stars on their menu are the Balbacua and Sisig, dishes that resonate deeply with Cebu’s rich culinary heritage. Balbacua, a slow-cooked beef stew, is hearty and tender, showcasing layers of flavor that comfort and satisfy. Sisig, meanwhile, captures the classic Filipino flair with a perfect blend of savory, tangy, and spicy notes, appealing to anyone who appreciates bold, traditional tastes.

Qusina’s appeal extends beyond these highlights. Diners often praise their Kare-Kare, especially the crispy pork variation that blends rich peanut sauce with a satisfying texture contrast. The Pochero, a stew with Spanish-Filipino roots, also earns frequent commendations for its rich broth and tender meat. Their grilled dishes, such as Cebu-style pork barbecue and Tasik fish fillet, reveal a mastery in preparation—grilled just right, tender and flavorful, yet not overpowering.

What sets Qusina apart is not just the food but the overall experience. Its strategic location in a bustling neighborhood makes it accessible without sacrificing a relaxed ambiance. Families, locals, and returning visitors converge here to enjoy traditional meals with a twist, making it a beloved spot for both everyday dining and special gatherings. The open layout keeps the environment fresh, allowing guests to indulge in smoky barbecued flavors without the clinging odor.

Regular patrons like Kiki and Maria echo this sentiment, sharing how dishes like the Dinuguan, Baka Pochero, and the unique Krispy Kare-Kare, combined with local corn grits, create a memorable dining experience. The added personal touch of the owner and Chef Bruce’s creative takes on classics enrich the visit further, leaving a lasting impression beyond just the plate.

In sum, Qusina offers more than food—it presents a taste of Cebu’s rich culture through careful preparation, quality ingredients, and an atmosphere designed for comfort and connection. Whether you seek a hearty Balbacua, expertly grilled seafood, or a tender Sisig to share, Qusina proves itself a must-visit Filipino restaurant in Cebu City.

My go-to restaurant when ever I get to fly home to Cebu. Their dishes are elevated versions of well known dishes from around Cebu island. The cebu-style pork bbq is tender, while the grilled Tasik fish fillet is easily tastier than any usual grilled fish you'd think you'd want in a local restaurant. My favorite dishes are the sizzling bihod, grilled scallops and dinuguan. And lately, Chef Bruce added a great take on a classic Krispy Kare-Kare. all better eaten with local corn grit rather than white rice. Then i never leave without a couple tubs of their Quinupusan pork rinds. Am always 2 kilos heavier after a few weekend feedings at Qusina. Worth it!

Looking for real Cebu barbecue without stressing out on where to park? This is the place to be. Their barbecue is so good and tender! Everything is good but my kids’ favorites are: chicken barbecue, sisig, pochero, and chicharon. And the best part? It’s an open restaurant so you won’t leave there smelling like barbecue

Huge parking space, well-ventilated place, food is good especially their sisig. We had pork bbq, chicken bbq, baked scallops and sisig. So good! A great place to dine and relax with the live acoustic. Will be back to try their other dishes. I love the condiments corner, btw! :)

Surprising find. Was headed elsewhere and decided to take a quick peek inside since the wife was in the mood for some barbecue. The ambience was great, for a price that was similar or less compared to other barbecue places that were more cramped.
